These quail feathers allow you to make some very small sakasa kebari tenkara flies or soft hackles with the neck feathers while still giving you lots larger common sizes of 12s, 10s and larger as you move down the patch. You are no longer limited to using larger sized soft hackle feathers for your fly creations.
